REALITY DUB
INSTALLATION-PERFORMANCE IN A BUS — 1999
Reality Dub is a multimedia research about REALITY and PERCEPTION in our urban environment today. The performance/installation takes place on a special bus fitted out with microphones and video cameras. The audience, sitting in the blind windowed rear part of the bus can watch and listen to a kind of real time processed road movie based on the live remix of the sounds and images captured along the streets. One could compare this bus to a mobile “Plato cave” ( in the “Republic”, Plato used the famous allegory of the Cave).
Far from hi-tech simulators or entertainment park rides, designed to create pseudo realistic illusions, Reality Dub, on the contrary, works on sensorial distortions between feelings of movements, and actual images and sounds.
