PETITES FRAPPES
SOUND INSTALLATION — 2011
WHIPPERSNAPPERS
The artist has converted a series of valves from their usual industrial use into percussion instruments. An electronic controller triggers sudden bursts of tiny raps and taps that resound in the ambient space of the gallery, whilst stamping their imprint on the gallery wall. These Whippersnappers sound off without warning, startling visitors when they least expect it – which keeps them constantly on their toes (every 3 or 4 minutes, a new strokes sequence (5 to 10 seconds) is triggered).
